Pre Ballet

Pre-Ballet is designed as a learning transition linking Creative Movement and formal ballet training. The class is structured so children are exposed to a variety of rhythmical, coordination and musical exercises along with basic ballet skills, appropriate for their age. The 45 minute class incorporates gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as developing balance, posture, discipline, and self confidence. Throughout the year, different movement concepts including level, tempo, energy, shapes, place, and direction are introduced while improving motor skills and increasing student’s ballet vocabulary. Ballet Technique- Ballet has centuries of tradition as one of the world's most elegant dance arts where placement of the body, poise and proper alignment are emphasized. Students will learn to demonstrate a conceptual and physical understanding of basic ballet terminology, increased flexibility, and build technical strength.

Jazz Class

Jazz is a fun and eclectic genre of dance that draws and other styles in forming its technique. Classes include warm-up,center technique, jazz patterns, and center combinations. While it incorporates elements of ballet, including an emphasis on alignment, it also relies on modern dance and contemporary styles like hip-hop to augment the movement vocabulary. Jazz dance uses almost every genre of music, from classic swing and Broadway jazz to current popular music. This is an energetic, dynamic form of dance, suitable for everyone who wants to get moving!

Modern Technique

Students gain a broad understanding of dance as an art form by weaving together elements of technique, space, time, energies, and individual creativity to offer a holistic approach to Modern dance. Students develop an acute understanding of body mechanics and efficient alignment, as Modern technique emphasizes body awareness, musicality and improvisation.
